Excited to be going to Hong Kong with Channel V! Doing an event with them as well as shooting a music video for my song “Wait” while there in Hong Kong. Went to Florida for Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals and then went to Vegas to visit relatives there. Have a show in Singapore Nov. 19 and a few other things coming up.

Hi David!really appreciate hearing from you specially about your visit to your relatives in Vegas,the Florida event and Disney world!:) So sorry to hear about your relative who is battling cancer. I am sure your visit meant a lot to her. I would like to think that hope for cure is just around the corner as long as cancer research is ongoing.
I am glad to hear you enjoyed the X-factor last week! some of the contestant blew my mind too lol. “Sing-off” is good to watch also,interesting to hear and watch Sara Bareilles as one of the judge:)
Music video for “Wait” – my idea of the music video is probably lame compare to the storyline of all the creative mind here lol. Exciited to see the idea you and your team come up with the music video though…btw,good song choice for music video David:)

OK – too late I guess but I have an idea. The video would alternate between black & white of you in bed (or on a chair or couch) trying to sleep but awake, and you drift off as it switches to a dream in color of you and the girl in different settings, time periods, etc – like dreams are. And as she starts to leave/fade wait wait wait you are awake again in black and white, etc.

Well, the video would start from you and the girl after a break up sometime ago and then a patch up entering her house..as soon as you see the first glance of the inside you remember the terrible situation of leaving that place while your break up. you remember at the door step remembering all the worst moments from leaving her to all those times without her (according to the song)…as the song ends you come back to real life and feel happy to be wait her again and your “WAIT” ends!!..:D..have a nice time shooting your video and we know we’ll get something we’d love!!..:D
or besides just showing that love type of thing you can go for general love like missing someone really special (not in “THAT” love sense) but someone who has played an important role in your life , made you happy and gave you strength like your mother or some friend…….you can even show like according to the first paragraph you are trying to sleep but can’t ’cause you remember all the moments spent her that person and like you’re about to meet them or something like that..hope you get it what i’m trying to say.haha!!!..:D GOOD LUCK!
You all have some great ideas! But what I would really love is that with the release of Wait and the video to also release it in spanish!!!!! Not only do many Asian fans know spanish but the latino community will explode! They’ve been waiting pacientemente :)

David this vlog was loaded with awesome surprises and info. I think this is the first time you announced something (hong kong, wait music vid) before we knew about it -haha! Now about that music video (beyond excited for this), please don’t cut your hair! Your hair looked perfect in Japan and at the CMN Awards. Plus, it seems natural for the Wait video to start off in a bedroom somewhere (can’t sleep, wide awake). Long, natural messy hair is perfect for this (and represents the real you). I’m not an overly creative person but I really think this vid needs to be angsty and romantic. A clock has to be featured, I see the clock counting down throughout and finally to zero at the last frame (where David is still pleading wait, wait don’t go).
Btw, I really hope you find a way to release the ATE songs (and music vid) in the US and Canada!! My perfect MKOC tour concert includes Wait and Love Don’t Hate (with a side of Ave Maria!!). I’m so looking forward to meeting you David at the VIP sessions. I can’t WAIT!!!!!!!

This is song sounds very mature and sexy so you’re gonna need to dress up a bit – e.g. Wearing a plain white shirt and denim, or smth. I wouldn’t dress you up with a t-shirt. That outfit you wore to the CMNAwards was nice but don’t tuck it in (:
Here’s my pitch: WAIT tells a story about you being a bit desperate but at the same time regretting stuff you did to a girl. It is going to be set in the airport (mostly) so it tells you that the girl left you but since you can’t get over that she’s gone, you get glimpses of her being there while you’re looking for her.
Camera shots will mostly be establishing shots and mid-shots. Close-ups for cutaways would be awesome too.
Here are the scenes:
1. (NIGHT) – HOTEL BEDROOM
You’re lying in bed looking up the ceiling as the song comes in. Then you look out the window, get outta bed and wander around and stand near the window and looking at all the pretty lights of HK. You then decide to go out in the night to take a walk.
2. (DAWN) – HK streets
You’re out in the streets (it’s probably cold so get a jacket), camera shoots a lot of the buildings with nice lights and then goes back to you. You’re looking for something but really you’re just sad that you’re alone walking around. Then, you stop and sit on a bench (like a bus stop or smth) and you look down on the ground – cuts right there and then you start to sing the chorus.
3. (DAY) – AIRPORT
You’re stepping out of a taxi and then walking into the airport
3b. Then it cuts to an establishing shot, you’re sitting on a bench and looking out of the huge wide window (go look at planes haha). The shot is from your back and maybe do a bit of a dolly shot. Then after a couple of seconds, you get up and now walking to the busy area inside the airport.

In this one, you're standing right in the middle of that set and just give a blank stare for five seconds.
4b. Cuts to a over the shoulders shot where you see the GIRL. One second the girl is there and then the next someone passes by and she's gone. You try to run to her but it's too late. Then in a hurry you try to pass the crowd to her where she was standing and then look around. You then see her again at the other side but same thing happens.
And then, here's the fun part, do a slow motion of you turning back and see another glimpse of her and this is for the end of the chorus towards the bridge – "One more minute wait wait wait don't gooooooooooo~"
5. When the last chorus is coming in, you're gonna sing this one – You're standing http://www.acrylicaquariums.com/hongkong/shot777.jpg on the bridge if you're gonna have the band with you in HK, have the band in this scene. Let them play and you just need to sing to the camera. For the last part "Wait don't go…", from a close-up shot do a zoom out while your hand is reaching for the camera.
6. The very last part, the girl is spotted at the other bridge just standing there looking at the camera.
CUTAWAYS
Hotel bedroom — very messy suitcases
HK Streets — Buildings with pretty lights, cars passing by, streetlights
Airport — Flightboard, people's legs and their suitcases, travelator..
Oh.. my .. God.. if I was shooting this I'm gonna do so much! I'm a film student and whoa for once filming sounds exciting! Here's the thing with my idea – You're not gonna need tons of budget! hahaha

This is my “Wait” music video idea. See, I wrote this back in July (and I went scouring my blog for it) so forgive, please forgive, the inaccuracies in location.
At the opening, with the music, before David starts singing. You do editing over space-y starry background that flashes “David Archuleta” and “Wait” in crazy, colorful letters.
“I Can’t sleep, I’m feeling wide awake…tonight is taking its time”- night. camera moves into a bedroom where David is lying…”wide awake.”
“How much more before the morning breaks….so i can leave it all behind.” David looks to his right to see a window, still pitch black.
“cause every time i try to close my eyes” literally closes his eyes and covers them with both of his hands, very sincerely in frustration. Wipes his eyes to the side. still lying down. (HEHE)
“I only end up seeing memories of you” turns to his left and sees the faint, but oh-so-real silhouette of a girl.
“And it’s never enough”- sits up quickly on his bed.
“I’m waiting”- the bed falls out of the frame and he starts walking among the darkened houses while the stars shine bright above him.
“Even though you’re gone, I can hear your heart.” (literally hears a heartbeat in the distance and turns his head to find the source.
“It’s calling out my name like a flash in the dark.(to)…I’ll find a way to make it last” he sees a heart at the end of the the road, which he starts chasing after.
“Just one more minute, wait, wait, wait, don’t go- to end of the chorus”- he sees the heart fade quite fast into the darkness and the scene changes dramatically to one of sunshine along the boardwalk for a beach for the next verse.
“I am keeping every word you said, but how much longer can I hold on?”- he sees words his girl used to say on the stones of buildings, in the waves of the ocean, and on the boardwalk he is walking on.
“‘cause whispers echoing until the fade remind me that you’re already gone.”- he holds his head to clear out the voices, which almost looks as if he is having a fight with himself.
“‘cause every time i try to chase your voice, i end up getting lost and running in circles”- reaching out to the general area where the ocean is as he sees the silhouette once more
“but it’s never enough, im waiting”- he holds his chest to the point where you can feel his pure and honest agony.
“even though you’re gone, I can heart your heart” – walking-near running- down the boardwalk, which is now at sunset. he hears a heart pound, to which he believes it is the girl’s, but it is, in reality, his own pulse rising.
“It’s calling out my name like a flash in the dark” a wonderwall of flashlights appear at the end of a street, of magnificent fluorescent colors like yellow, pink, green, light and dark blues, and light and dark purples. (REAL-LIFE LOCATION: VIRGINIA BEACH BOARDWALK AND AREA)
“If this is just a dream, I won’t give it back…I’ll find a way to make it last” – to onlookers, it looks as if he is singing into the sky as he sees her in his mind’s eye.
“one more minute, wait, wait, wait-don’t go- end of chorus first time”- he holds up one finger, now looking straight onto the scenery for “one more minute” both times and he pushes himself away from the railings and out into the life for the 3rd verse/reiteration of the end of the chorus
“wait, wait, wait, don’t go-like a flash in the dark”- he’s walking into the life, with stores and people walking around….intensity is welling in his eyes and no, not tears.
“if this is just a dream, i won’t give it back-wait, wait, wait don’t go (the second time)”- he’s performing in some sort of area on VA Beach-stadium with fans and all that stuff when he sees the silhouette in the first row, but now a smile is visible.
to end the music video: before the face is revealed to David and to the viewer, he wakes up from his dream, as if to credit his line, “IF THIS IS JUST A DREAM”.
One of my friends had this idea! Just sharing:
“My vision on the Wait video is: you’re in this completely white, empty, messed up house (symbolizing that you have nothing now) and you’re sitting on the floor in the house singing about how “she left you”. and then plays beautiful scenes of him with the girl (maybe) during the first verse and then as the chorus starts, “even though you’re gone, i can hear ur heart..) you slowly get up and have hope. and tries finding THE GIRL. :) because you can hear her heart like it’s calling out your name…”
With this said, it could again be not about a girl.
We understand certain things about David, that he could try another approach too. ;) Or they or the idea could come back…NOW I’LL BE QUIET.

I’m an audio-film student!!! :D I’ve got lots of ideas! I’ll just share a few key ones, all are suggestions ONLY, but pretend this is a meeting with the director. ;)
Depending on the scene that the video is in, a clock present in the room or area itself would be cool. There could even be an effect of a clock or a close up shot of a slow moving clock…kinda like Closer To Love by Mat Kearney.
And I’m not sure if the current band will be in this…if they are, keep an eye on the instruments a few times. Or create a visual beat with David moving or the camera moving and slowing down. Maybe even use 60 fps for a few shots, just incase? haha There is constant movement in this song, having David show that would be interesting to the eye and get across David’s frustration of wanting to sleep and dream about this thing or person. If this is in a studio or, I’d have the grip try create midnight to dusk light set ups. heehee You know instead of staying up until morning, unless that’s when the shoot is because everyone is from the US. lol
As for the story that David and the director will tell, I do not know. This could be a song about loosing a love one to something, or having David losing someone as in leaving and not coming back for a long time.
Heck, lol, this song could be about David leaving something or someone for a very long time. I do not know. That will be up to you all.
I kinda challenge y’all to think of something we don’t expect, time permitting. heehee I’m seeing David trying to go to sleep, but he can’t because he doesn’t want blanketblank to leave, but they did. Walking around through a house or memories of that person or thing.

First, let me extend my best wishes and prayers for your family member who is battling cancer. My dear eldest sister has terminal cancer and I know what you mean about admiring your relative’s attitude…my sister has a light that shines around her…just so much strength and spirituality…she is truly an inspiration!
Second, I am so excited that you are going to Hong Kong and shooting a video for Wait. That is an awesome song! I’m sure the video will be amazing. Hope you can get that song released in the U.S….also Love Don’t Hate, and Notice Me would be well received here also, imo.
Third, since you asked… I like when you wear your hair shorter on the sides and spiky on the top…I know you are probably bored with that style..but it’s a good one on you! Well, you look good in any hairstyle, but that’s just my personal preference. Also, your hairstyle in Ft Wayne, Indiana last November was awesome, but it was longer, so don’t think you have time to grow it out, ha ha.

Both of my parents had cancer. Mom is a survivor and I lost my dad earlier this year…such a devastating disease. Glad you were able to visit. I know it meant a lot. I remember well the last time my sisters and I visited my dad less than a week before he died (we all live quite a distance from him). We sang to him and I know it meant a lot to him as it still does to us. Such a blessing to have that memory.
