On his first day in Vietnam, David arrived at the Ho Chi Minh City airport where he was greeted by many fans. From there he went to a “Welcoming Party” press event which saw him interviewed, posing for pictures, signing autographs, etc.
In this official site exclusive video, David is shown practicing piano while waiting for his “Welcoming Party” to begin.

i love you david……………..
David was so awesome when he played “My Kind of Perfect” in piano..I can play it too in piano, because I’m a pianist and that songs really inspired me a lot.
He plays piano beautifully. I love his song My Kind of Perfect. He is such a genuine and a talented artist. During his Asian tour, he has shown how much of a humble, kind, adorable and a very handsome person he is :)
ILOVE DAVID ARCHULETA <3
When he sings My kind of Perfect,
“They say, give it time,
Give it time and it will fall in line
But I, keep wondering how and when and why I haven’t met you”
The above part is the most beautiful melody of the entire song, even the entire album. IMHO.
I just love the acapella version of ‘A Little To Not Over You’! Love it!!!!!!!!! I also just adore watching him practicing piano of ‘My Kind Of Perfect’ and it is so PRETTY!!!!!! Keep rockin’ Archie! :)
& yo me siento excluida, porque no me puedes entender y tengo un mundo entero que decirte :C !

David Archuleta on fire in a sea of Viet fans)
Friday, 7/22/2011, 22:44
(David Archuleta in VN)
(24h.com.vn) –
(Thousands of concert goers applaud nonstop and sing along with their idol.)
(As usual in any concert with foreign artist participation, the artist is always placed at the end at the end of the show and Idol music is no exception. Many famous Vietnamese singers such as Hồ Ngọc Hà, Uyên Linh, Văn Mai Hương, Noo Phước Thịnh with their dancers and fancy stage shows are only preparing the audience for David and serve as a countdown for an amazing concert of Idol music.)
(David transforms into a big idol on stage.)
(Simplicity makes a real idol’s image)
(There is no need for shining costumes, no need for sexy dancers; that is David. Those are also David’s words at the press conference on 7-21; “I don’t think I and my music are sexy or suggestive.”)
(Viet fans gave their idols beautiful flower bouquets)
(Before the concert began, some light rain worried the concert goers, but mother nature pleased the audience of nearly 10,000 at District 7 Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City. That made the super concert more fun, exciting, and intense as it progressed toward the end.)
(David maximizes the fan interaction during his performance.)
(David appeared on stage looking like a young teen. The 20 year old idol was very simple with dark jeans, a gray T-shirt, and a brown jacket. That simple appearance is very rarely seen on the big stage in Vietnam; however that simplicity brought out the idol’s special skill and talent.)
(David’s style is simple and natural both in performance and interaction with the audience. Hence, it is not surprising that the show’s organizer allowed many fans to bring flowers on stage in the middle of his set. David not only gave hugs and took photos with fans on stage, but also gave an autograph to a young fan. That made other fans regret not going up. On stage, even sweaty and tired, David still had a bright smile on his face.)
(Solo performance on stage but with the support of thousands in the audience)
(No dancers, no fancy moves, only singing, singing and…singing. Many people might ask why during David’s set of 10 songs, there was not a single stage performance with dancers, but those who attended the live concert would have a clear answer. The music of this idol only needs vocal and supporting music and that is satisfying enough.)
(From the start of the set, the audience could see how calm David was even though there were thousands of people screaming for him. David started softly but increased the intensity more and more as the show went on. He moved nonstop to both sides of the stage to interact with fans. He had no fancy moves and no dancer support, but his performance with familiar tunes as Crush, Stand by Me, and Something ‘Bout Love was still very powerful. Even seen all sweaty from non-stop live singing, he showed no sign of weakness. To the contrary, the 1990-born idol appeared stronger than ever.)
(David gave his all in a top live singing voice.)
(David’s success was not only from the audience support but also from his wonderful band. Their accompaniment and support seems to blow a strong fire in David’s performance.)
(On top of watching him burn up the stage, the audience also saw David singing and playing piano. David shared that he will sing a song for his Mom and for all Viet fans. The deep, haunting voice of each line of the song left the audience in goosebumps).
(The voice of the 1990-born idol has conquered and captured the hearts of Viet fans). (That is clearly his strength.)
(David’s solo performance is seen incomparable, hard to be beaten).
(There are many young fans in love with David even though they might not understand all of his music.)
(Before the concert began, there was an announcement that 2010 Viet Idol Uyen Linh would not have a duet with David. Many people were disappointed. One reason was that there was not enough time for the preparation of such a duet. However, the answer was very clear after seeing and hearing David’s live performance.)
(Among the Vietnamese singers who performed on 7/22, Uyen Linh had the most support from the audience, especially when she sang Gian Anh (Duc Tri). However, the passion from Uyen Linh was only at acceptable level. The decision for not having a Uyen Linh-David duet was a correct and thoughtful decision.)
(David is extremely sweaty from giving his all to the audience.)
(There is no need for an MC to introduce every song, no need for changing costumes during his performance. David has performed solo for nearly one hour and sung more than 10 songs.)
(Even though some might say the attention was because he is an American idol or that there was some doubt that David might not have the same fire and passion as he had during the American Idol season, this night’s performance spoke volumes. David continuously sang, only stopping for some water, to receive flowers, or to take photos with fans. David has proved that he has a powerful voice and has the ability to capture the whole audience. Obviously, his full effort has been well rewarded.)
(Wonderful solo piano playing and singing on stage)
(As it came toward the end of the show, David’s performance received a more and more warm reception from the fans. They did not want to stay in their seats, but got closer to the stage to better see their idol and to be able to sing with him. The fans sang loudly with David for all the songs and screamed nonstop, earning them many waves from David. In the meantime, the Viet reporters had to work very hard to keep up them and to capture the best pictures.)
(After the JYJ, Super Junior, and 2AM fevers, only David Archuleta can give the Viet music lovers such a deeply satisfying performance.)
(David is able to cool down the idol fever in Vietnam.)
(David’s style is simple – with no fanfare but with massive talent, David is still as attractive, passionate, and compelling as he was during American Idol 2008)
Gah, the piano practice capture makes me so happy! Especialy the beginning!!!
Hi everyone,
I have been reading many, many concert reviews from VN on-line news. All of them are glowy, high praise for David style and talent. I especially like this article:

David Archuleta Touches the Heart of Hanoi Audiences
With an angelic smile, sweet voice, and intensely emotional performances, the 2008 American Idol runner-up has conquered and captured the hearts of thousands in the audience at Trien Lam Giang Vo on 7/24.
After the first show on 7/22 at Quan Khu 7 Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), David’s second show in Vietnam is at a smaller venue, in auditorium A1 of Trien Lam Giang Vo Center (Hanoi). The program did not start until close to 8:30PM under the eager anticipation of thousand fans for young David. However, the 20 year old singer did not take the stage until 9:40PM.
Similar to the first show at Ho Chi Minh City, young David dressed casually in jeans, grey t-shirt, and a brown leather jacket. David entered the stage with a familiar angelic smile while the audience cheered and applauded in a frenzy below. When young David began the first song, “Stomping the Roses”, the crowd roared and flooded toward the stage to be closer the Idol.
Within about an hour, David performed fifteen songs, which included the new songs in his second album, The Other Side Of Down, such as Falling Stars, Stomping The Roses, Elevator, My Kind of Perfect. All of these songs are either written by David himself or in collaboration with other songwriters. In addition, David also sang some famous covers that he loves Stand By Me, A Thousand Miles, and Heaven.
Even though he performed more than a dozen songs almost nonstop, his performance quality was very consistent. David’s performance was friendly and very intimate, and he even made his way closer to the audience to wave with a bright smile. Every time he did that, the audience got fired up and everyone tried to touch David’s hand. However, in Hanoi, the security was very strict; no audience members could come on stage to give him gifts or flowers.
Prior to starting each song, David shared his personal feelings about them. For A Thousand Miles, the 2008 AI runner-up said he often thinks about his Mom when he sings this song because he really misses her when he travels thousands of miles away from home. For My Kind of Perfect, David talked about his future girlfriend that he has yet to meet.
The most exciting moment that made the whole audience stand up to immerse themselves in David’s music was when the melody of Something ‘Bout Love, his new single, began to play. You certainly cannot feel the music when simply sitting in a chair. Each singing line “There’s something ’bout love that breaks your heart. Whoa oh oh oh, you still believe” was mixed homogeneously with applause and loud cheers filled with the audience’s excitement.
David continuously interacted with the audience, but still maintained the emotional delivery during his performance, which was shown through his dreamy eyes and the way he moved across the stage. With every song, every lyric line, David has given his all, given his heart on the stage. For some songs as Crush, Stand By Me or Zero Gravity, young David also invited the audience to sing with him. We can say that the 20 year old Prince of Pop has captured the hearts of Vietnamese audiences during the two shows in Vietnam.
Many fans cried heartily seeing their Idol in such a close proximity. Viet fans also showed their jealousy for young David: in the middle of his set, he and a representative of the show’s organizer gave flowers to thank Debbie, the show’s producer. Debbie kissed on David cheek to show her admiration for him, and the fans screamed their disapproval. After that, the singer shyly smiled and continued giving the audience an unforgettable performance.
The young David tricked the audience after his Zero Gravity performance by waving good-bye to the audience and going backstage as if the show had ended. The audience was confused about the sudden program stop and shouted loudly: “David…David…David”. Suddenly, the singer came back with an innocent smile and said, “Hello again.” The last two songs that David performed for the Hanoi audience were Heaven, a cover of a Bryan Adams song, and Crush, his first single after American Idol 2008.
In an hour of immersion in the music of David Archuleta, the audience had the opportunity to live in his sweet, youthful musical space and learned that music comes from the heart. No fancy costumes, no showy appearance – young David has conquered his listeners with his simplicity, friendliness, and openness. When David waved good-bye and disappeared backstage, the fans could not stop shouting his name in longing and did not want it to end. We can say that David Archuleta has accomplished one thing that many international artists who have come to Vietnam recently can’t do – touch the hearts of the fans.
[Note: Skipping two paragraphs discussing local performers]
Watching this show with this American idol, David Archuleta, the audience can’t help but to compare him to V-Pop performers. Hong Minh (16 years old), an audience member, asked the question: “Why, with all the fanfare and large productions from Viet singers, can none of them get into the hearts of the audience as the simple closeness of this international artist”
He is just so awesome! Adorable! ;)
